PRESS RELEASE

K2O Consulting Receives Approval from the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) to Provide Arsenical Removal Media to the UK

New Silica Sand Media Available for Arsenic and Other Dissolved Metals Removal From Drinking Water

November 21, 2014 - A proven cost effective media called DMI-65 recently received approval by the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) for use in treating drinking water in the UK. The media is called DMI-65. Approval was granted in accordance with Regulation 31 for England and Whales. Other approvals granted were Regulation 30 for Northern Ireland and Regulation 27 (4) (a) for Scotland.

DMI-65 is a silica sand media which has a chemical formulation infused onto the outer surface and into the porosity of the media. It is effective in removing arsenic and other dissolved metals such as iron, manganese, lead copper, zinc and aluminium from drinking water. Unlike other medias, it can be backwashed and re-used for 5-7 years. Other media once exhausted, must be replaced and the waste media disposed of in an environmentally sound manner. DMI-65 has been used for the treatment of drinking water around the world for over 30 years.

The price per cubic meter of DMI-65 is less than half that of other medias used in the UK for the treatment of drinking water. With an expected life span of 5-7 years, users can realize large cost savings over the life of the media. Existing filters can easily be retrofitted to accommodate DMI-65.

The company receiving approval to distribute DMI-65 in the UK is K2O Consulting LLC. You can visit their web site at www.K2Oconsulting.com.
